A side view portrait of Nellie, the oldest dolphin in human care, at age 57 at Marineland. Nellie lived to be 61 before passing away on May 1, 2014.

Bottlenose dolphin are common in the Atlantic, Gulf and estuarine waters of Florida. Fond of nearshore waters such as bays, lagoons and the intracoastal waterway, they range offshore as far as the continental shelf. They are found around the world in temperate and tropical waters.
