Brown pelicans are large dark birds found mostly near the coast throughout Florida the Gulf coastal states, ranging up the eastern coast into the mid-Atlantic states in summer. Also found in southern California and the Baja region of Mexico plus Central America and the Pacific coast of South America from Ecuador to Chile.
