A Clamshell Orchid in the Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve in south Florida. Prosthechea cochleata var. triandra is also called the Florida Cockleshell Orchid.

An epiphytic orchid found in the southern couties of Florida, Prosthechea cochleata is listed as a state endangered species. The interesting flowers can appear year-round, but blooming occurs more heavily from September through May.
