The Ocklawha River is one of Florida's most scenic rivers where it remains in its natural state. One section of the lower river was dammed and made into a reservoir as part of the Cross-Florida Barge Canal project, abandoned in the 1970s. Upper portions of the river were channelized for navigation, flod control and to facilitate area agricultural development. Natural and beautiful sections of the Ocklawaha include between Silver River and Eureka - where this photograph was made - and between Rodman Dam and the St. Johns River.
