Secund is a term typically used in botanical descriptions to refer to something that is arranged on one side as is rime ice.
Rime ice is formed on the windward side of an object, such as a branch or mast, when supercooled water droplets in clouds or fog come in contact with an object. Supercooled refers to water that remains in liquid form even when the temperature is below freezing.
