A close-up front view of a single southeastern sneezeweed flower.
Southeastern sneezeweed is a common wildflower of wet flatwoods, wet prairies, savannas and swamp margins in most of Florida. The range includes the southeastern coastal states from North Carolina to Alabama.
This perennial can have one or several stems up to 8 dm (~ 32 in.) tall growing from a basal rosette of linear, elliptic or oblanceolate leaves with few teeth. Stem leaves are greatly reduced, alternate, sessile, and decurrent. The flowers bloom in the spring and are solitary and terminal on the stem with both ray and disk florets yellow. The ray floret ligules are toothed. The fruit is a brown, pubescent achene.

Images by Paul have been published in field guides, various periodicals, exhibited in juried art shows and also used in exhibits at Lyonia Environmental...
