Also called Dutch clover, this native of Eurasia can now be found throughout all of the United States and Canada except for Nunavut.
White clover (Trifolium repens) is stoloniferous, meaning that it has a horizontal stem (the stolon) that runs along the ground that often roots at the nodes. The white flowers are often tinged with cream or rose color and grow in a tight globular inflorescence at the top of a long peduncle arising from the stolon. The petioled leaves typically have three elliptic to egg-shaped leaflets with various light and dark markings.
