Description
A male Florida Scrub Lizard on the ground in scrub habitat.
A small lizard of scrub and sandhills mainly of the interior peninsula and Atlantic coast of Florida.
Scrub lizards are gray to gray-brown with a distinctive thick brown stripes on the side of the body from the head to the base of the tail. Growing to about 13 cm (5 in.) in length with spiny scales. Males have a turquoise belly. They are very similar to Eastern fence lizards except for having the side stripes.
